Dr. Thomas Knoedler, MD

Dr. Knoedler is a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon. He specializes in problems of the hand, wrist, and elbow including fracture care, arthritis of the hand and wrist, Dupuytren’s disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, nerve injuries, tendon disorders, and soft tissue injuries/infections of the upper extremity. He offers minimally invasive treatment options including endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery, wrist arthroscopy, and needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren’s disease.

Dr. Knoedler graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. After working as a professional ski instructor for a year in Montana, he attended Tulane University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha national honor medical society and earned several academic awards including the Eben J. Carey Award in Anatomy, the Merck Manual Award for Academic Excellence, and the McGraw-Hill Education Lange Medical Student Award as one of the top two students in his class. He then completed Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, followed by hand surgery fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center at Thomas Jefferson University.

Prior to joining the group, he worked at Temple University while his wife (now a gastroenterologist at Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates) completed her fellowship in Philadelphia. During that time, he specialized in care of ballistics injuries, complex fracture care, and limb salvage/reconstruction.

Dr. Knoedler now lives in Annapolis with his wife and two young sons. Originally from Minnesota, he has traded boating on lakes in the North Woods for boating on the Chesapeake with his family. He is also an avid golfer and skier.
